July 5th Snack Mix

If you’ve been here awhile... I made a unicorn snack mix for my middle daughters birthday party earlier this year.  I also made a valentines snack mix for her class party. I used this same process, but made it red, white and blue.

Instructions are detailed in the post, linked above.  But, it is as simple as melting coating chocolate and dying it the color you want and spreading it on the popcorn and pretzels. I used a few different kind of patriotic colored sprinkles.

Some other items I used were....

I used a couple of different ingredients this time. I found mini pretzels which seems better for a snack mix. I also used mini saltine crackers. They added a salty crunch to cut some of the sweetness. I also added freeze dried strawberries which added a yummy tart bite as well as a pretty pop of red. Of course red, white & blue m & m’s were a must.

This is a crowd pleaser!  It is fun just to have out at a BBQ and very easy as an on the go snack if you are traveling.  My kids love themed food.  I think it helps them get into the holiday or celebration even more.  This would also be great for Memorial Day too!  Really I'm in for the RED, WHITE and BLUE all year.  Olympics! World Cup! Ryder Cup!  You get the drift!  Happy Making!

DIY Salon Worthy Manicure at Home

DIY salon manicure at home So, like many of you mamas I don’t always have time to sneak off to the nail salon to get a manicure. Not only that, but weekly trips to the salon are not always in the budget. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love going to the salon. But the logistics get tough, I have to find someone to watch the youngest of my kiddos. So, a $30 manicure turns into a $50 outing once I pay the babysitter. More often than not, I do my nails at home. Here is how I am able achieve a salon look quickly at home. I tend do my nails at night after the kids are all in bed, while watching TV.  Starting with clean dry nails, here is my process. First, I rub hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol on on my nails. This takes the excess oil off of my nails and allows the polish to adhere better. This is the first step to a longer-lasting manicure. Second, I use a basecoat. I love Orly Bonder. It’s a rubberized product that allows the color to stick to y...

Favorite Everyday Shoes

Favorite Kicks I bought these shoes about a year & a half. I LOVE them. I stalked these shoes at my local DSW, I looked up outfits for these shoes on Pinterest. I did my due diligence.  Needless to say, I have already gotten my money worth and they are still kicking! I bought mine at my local Store. You can find them online HERE . These are Dr. Sholl’s brand. They have memory foam and are terrific for walking all day. Not to mention, they are a pretty reasonable price point, especially when you consider how often I wear them! I wear them with jeans, leggings and shorts. I’ve even paired them with the occasional relaxed dress. What I love most about them is that they are as comfortable as my running shoes, but they take it up a knotch with fashion & style.

Italian Cheese Ball

I blogged and did a IG live recently and made a cheeseball. You can see the blog post here. Cheeseballs are a fantastic item to serve at a gathering. They are easy, appetizing and unpretentious. You can make them any flavor to fit what you are looking for. This last weekend we were swimming at a friends house and I wanted to bring something for us to snack on. I made a Italian flavored cheeseball. Think of the flavors of an Italian sub, but in a cheeseball! So good. I like to mix my cheeseballs in an electro mixer... but that’s not necessary. It just needs to be well mixed. Ingredients: 2 finely chopped peperocinos 2 finely chopped cherry peppers 1 block of softened cream cheese 1/2 packet of Italian dressing (dry) 1/4 cup Parmesan Coating: 1-2 tablespoons of dried parsley 2-3 pieces of hard salami, chopped finely (blotted w/a paper towel to remove extra oil) 1/4 cup Parmesan Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least one hour before serving.
