Laundry Stain Removal

So, recently a friend of mine asked me to get a stain out of her  shirt for her. That got me thinking, gosh, do I do something that other people don’t. So here’s my blog post on stain removal. Glamorous and sexy it is not. If you are like me, and have kids it is a necessity. The amount of time I’ve been doing laundry is kind of outrageous , but I have three kids and a husband and all of them like to wear clean clothes every day. Laundry is a necessary task, so we might as well all have a few tricks up our sleeve. For pretreating,  I use your everyday average stain treatment products. Shout, oxyclean etc. What I’m talking about today are tough, dried in stains. This treatment works great for ground in grass or mud, armpits stains... but especially anything oily or greasy.  I must give credit where credit is due, I learned about this product from my mother in law years ago and have been using it ever since! Fels-Naptha! It is a bar of laundry soap. I buy mine at my local Wal-Mart

Online Shopping at Old Navy

I find myself doing more and more shopping online these days. It may be because it’s becoming more common, but for me it’s almost a necessity. Between school drop offs, sports practice, games, PTO, exercise, nap schedule, laundry, cooking and cleaning who has time! Now don’t get me wrong I love a leisurely stroll through Target with Starbucks in hand as much as the next momma. I just don’t always have time. I recently ordered a few things from Old Navy. I love old navy, the price point is fantastic, they keep up with styles and trends, they lean a bit conservative in their lengths and cuts which fit my style to a tee. One big benefit for me is when I shop online I can order Tall versions of their everyday styles. This is such a great option for me. I’m not super tall, but at 5’ 10’’, a lot of standard dresses and jeans just are not sized right for me. Old Navy gives me the option to have cute on trend styles, that fit for a reasonable price. Win!  One other thing I love about retaile

What to wear Wednesday

Does  anyone else have a kiddo that is super picky about clothes???  I have 2...so far.  My oldest is picky about fit and feel, which makes it hard to shop for her.  Up until recently she would say that her biggest enemy in life were ‘jeans & mustard’.... first world problems! But that being said, when you take jeans out of the equation it really limits your outfit options. I mean jeans match everything. I have found the solution!  Target makes a super soft jegging in 3 different washes. She wears, loves and doesn’t complain. Light Wash Adjustable waist. Must have in my opinion for growing kids! They are on sale right now, buy 1 get 1 50%!!! That’s a great deal. You can find them here .

Favorite Everyday Shoes

Favorite Kicks I bought these shoes about a year & a half. I LOVE them. I stalked these shoes at my local DSW, I looked up outfits for these shoes on Pinterest. I did my due diligence.  Needless to say, I have already gotten my money worth and they are still kicking! I bought mine at my local Store. You can find them online HERE . These are Dr. Sholl’s brand. They have memory foam and are terrific for walking all day. Not to mention, they are a pretty reasonable price point, especially when you consider how often I wear them! I wear them with jeans, leggings and shorts. I’ve even paired them with the occasional relaxed dress. What I love most about them is that they are as comfortable as my running shoes, but they take it up a knotch with fashion & style.

Favorite Low Carb Lunch

Low Carb Lunch So, back right after Thanksgiving I went low carb. So, of course I spent a lot of time exploring new & flavorful recipes on Pinterest .  One of the things I tend to do is gain inspiration from other people’s blogs and recipes and make them my own. I love that about cooking, seeing something that sparks your interest and adapting it to fit your families tastes. One thing that is a trend in low carb recipes is bowls. Taking a favorite sandwich or meal and taking the bread or carb out of it by placing it in a bowl. I saw Philly cheesesteak bowls, burrito bowl, taco bowl etc etc etc.  You get the idea you can turn just about any delicious sandwich into bowl form.  One recipe that I found that really sounded great to me was an eggroll bowl.  I love Asian food, but had kind of avoided it because of the all the rice and noodles....not to mention the fried options.  You can find the original Pinterest inspiration HERE . I read the recipe and decided what worked for me

Meal Planning

Meal planning If you are like me, two things are going through your head lately. One, time to reel it in and get my eating back on track. Time to tighten things up and put the holidays sweets away. Two, back to school and evening activities are taking over my calendar in a serious way. How to balance getting the kids everywhere and maintaining a healthy lifestyle for momma (and kids). Planning is key . Every Sunday, during littlests nap I pull out my trusty Lilly Pulitzer planner and get to work planning our weeks meals.  I like to take into account weather... I’m not big of eating soup when its 90 degrees out! On a normal day, we usually eat between 5:30-6:00. We have young kiddos (9,6,2)... the babe of the group goes to bed by 7:30 most nights. That means we can not push supper back too late. One of my kiddos has a 5:30 basketball practice one day a week. On that night, we eat after practice. I try and have something ready to go on those nights. Hello Crockpot
