Spring and Summer Must-Haves for Momma

Alright, it is mom's turn.  I have compiled a list of things I expect to LIVE in this summer.

I live in Georgia.  It is hot, so much of my must-haves are hot-weather friendly.  We are an active family.  I am hoping to play a good bit of tennis and golf this summer.  When I am not playing I will probably be watching one of my kids play.  So tennis and golf outfits are a must.

I know what you are thinking...that isn't my style.  Let me stop you right there.  Tennis and Golf outfits are so comfortable.  Tennis and golf skirts are literally the black leggings of the summer! Most of the skorts are pull on....comfortable.  Most are the same type of fabric as your favorite black leggings...comfortable..  All have a hugging spandex short underneath the skirt to provide coverage when I bend down and pick up my two year old....practical.  You look put together!  Trust me...you will see!  Hello Summer Uniform!

I found this pull-over at Belk not that long ago.  I saw, I loved, I bought.  I have a thing for scalloped edge detail.  It may be my weakness.  I have shorts, dresses and now a pullover.  This pullover is lightweight and feels terrific.  The material is liquid-y.  It is perfect for the occasional summer spring evening that you can still feel a chill in the air.

Fo those of you who don't live in the South, Belk is a department store.  It often is a stand alone store (thats how ours is) but sometimes can be found in the mall.  They have lots of brands, but I especially love their store brand called Crown & Ivy.  They have unique preppy style items that fit my lifestyle to a tee.

Birkenstocks.  You can see my original post that I did about my love for Birks here.  But basically let me tell you they are great. you will love them, you will live in these!

Cute pajamas are a must! With a couple of spring and summer trips with family comfy and modest pajamas are a must have. I love target pajamas, I have been buying different varieties for different seasons. I especially love the button front varieties.  These fabrics are incredibly soft, wash well and hold their shape. In my opinion, there is nothing worse than feeling like you have to get dressed before leaving your room at family's house.  That doesn't work for a momma who needs to check on kiddos.  Wear these cute pajamas with a bralette and you are good to go!

I spotted these darker floral print and had to have them.

You all know I love earrings.  I talk abut earring all the time!  Lets be honest, we all have our vices.  I loved the large dangly variety.   The color just says summer.  They would look cute with anything from white jeans to a summer dress!
I think in Summer a couple of great pairs of sassy studs are a must.  They jazz up a simple outfit and aren't too much if you are going to the pool, park or on a hike.  It is a little way of saying ...I am making an effort to put my look together, without going over the top.

As I said in my previous posts, we did a little family vacation over Thanksgiving.  We stocked up on swimsuits for that.  I am hoping to make all of them last through this summer.  My favorite suit I wore on that trip was very similar to the one I highlighted here.  It had some peek-a-boo spots that keep the look sassy without feeling like a granny. I paired mine with a great kimono style cover-up and those exact shoes from Target.  I like to buy less expensive but still cute slides for the bool and beach, so if they get ruined...no big deal!

I was looking through the Academy Sports website and spotted these shorts and instantly fell in love. Do you see that price point?!?  Who doesn't need a great pair for shorts that is easy and you can throw on with a tee shirt and birks?  The answer is no one.  Everyone needs an easy throw on outfit, especially if you are a momma.
Finally, a classic summer dress.  Perfect for church or a date night.  I love how popular floral prints are right now. /feminine and classic,  I found this at old navy and thought it was perfect.  It would be cute paired with a light sweater or denim jacket.  Or if you are really edgy and moto leather number would be amazing!

DIY Salon Worthy Manicure at Home

DIY salon manicure at home So, like many of you mamas I don’t always have time to sneak off to the nail salon to get a manicure. Not only that, but weekly trips to the salon are not always in the budget. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love going to the salon. But the logistics get tough, I have to find someone to watch the youngest of my kiddos. So, a $30 manicure turns into a $50 outing once I pay the babysitter. More often than not, I do my nails at home. Here is how I am able achieve a salon look quickly at home. I tend do my nails at night after the kids are all in bed, while watching TV.  Starting with clean dry nails, here is my process. First, I rub hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol on on my nails. This takes the excess oil off of my nails and allows the polish to adhere better. This is the first step to a longer-lasting manicure. Second, I use a basecoat. I love Orly Bonder. It’s a rubberized product that allows the color to stick to y...

Favorite Everyday Shoes

Favorite Kicks I bought these shoes about a year & a half. I LOVE them. I stalked these shoes at my local DSW, I looked up outfits for these shoes on Pinterest. I did my due diligence.  Needless to say, I have already gotten my money worth and they are still kicking! I bought mine at my local Store. You can find them online HERE . These are Dr. Sholl’s brand. They have memory foam and are terrific for walking all day. Not to mention, they are a pretty reasonable price point, especially when you consider how often I wear them! I wear them with jeans, leggings and shorts. I’ve even paired them with the occasional relaxed dress. What I love most about them is that they are as comfortable as my running shoes, but they take it up a knotch with fashion & style.

Italian Cheese Ball

I blogged and did a IG live recently and made a cheeseball. You can see the blog post here. Cheeseballs are a fantastic item to serve at a gathering. They are easy, appetizing and unpretentious. You can make them any flavor to fit what you are looking for. This last weekend we were swimming at a friends house and I wanted to bring something for us to snack on. I made a Italian flavored cheeseball. Think of the flavors of an Italian sub, but in a cheeseball! So good. I like to mix my cheeseballs in an electro mixer... but that’s not necessary. It just needs to be well mixed. Ingredients: 2 finely chopped peperocinos 2 finely chopped cherry peppers 1 block of softened cream cheese 1/2 packet of Italian dressing (dry) 1/4 cup Parmesan Coating: 1-2 tablespoons of dried parsley 2-3 pieces of hard salami, chopped finely (blotted w/a paper towel to remove extra oil) 1/4 cup Parmesan Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least one hour before serving.
