Spring & Summer must haves - 7-9 girl

If your new to my blog, I recently published a similar post geared towards my oldest daughter. Now it’s time for my middle-love. She recently turned 7! Both older girls have March birthdays. So between birthdays and Easter, I always need a good list of gifts that are practical and get us through the warmer months.

Our spring and summer is typically filled with tennis & golf and lots of outdoor play. So most of my picks are play and athletic friendly pieces. My middle girl is the girliest of my bunch, but also the hardest on clothes. So I like fun whimsical prints that don’t show stains as much.  This round up is really and truly for me. But I thought that if I needed a visual to keep me on track, surely someone else will appreciate it!

Most of the items are from Target & Old Navy. I have said it before and I will continue... I love to shop at stores that have easy online & in store shopping and friendly return policies. I also am familiar with sizing and know just what to expect from a size and quality perspective.

Luggage. We don’t travel a ton, but we have two trips tentatively scheduled between now and Christmas. Throw in a few short weekends away, and luggage seems like a practical gift. I picked up this unicorn set at my local Sams Club. I checked online and the unicorn variety is sold out, but there are other prints available. The suitcase is hard sided, so I am hoping that it will hold up well.

Natives are the BEST versatile shoe for kids! I love them. My kids love them! They are easy on and off. I throw them in the washer. Take a magic eraser to the white sole portion. Play on the playground, wear to the pool... or even with a sun dress! They are EVERYTHING!

This little outfit from Old Navy is so cute and so perfect for my middle little. It is girly, but functional. Both items are from the athletic line.

Most of the other items can be found at Target. The awesome stainless steel water bottle that keeps ice for hours and doesn’t leak. Sun Bum sunscreen is the only spray sunscreen my girl can use without breaking out her skin. This simple cotton twirl dress is a perfect throw on & go. Great for over a swimsuit or just playing with a pair of playground pants.

Modest tankini with a fun print.  My Middle Love is all about unicorns right now.  So this cute tankini fits the bill.  Target has such a great selection of swimsuits its really hard for me to even think about buying swim for the girls anywhere else.  Like I said in my previous post, I stocked up on swimwear for both me and the kids are Target at the end of the season last year as we went on a late fall beach vacay.  I am hoping everyones suits will still fit them and make it through this swim season.

My kids LIVE in the Target skort outfits all summer.  They are comfy and cute. They come as separates so they are easy to mix and match.  I often shop in store and on my target app simultaneously to be able to find the sets and patterns that the girls want.  They can easily go from play date, tennis camp or playground.  My kids will be doing golf and tennis pretty regularly over the summer and having a few of these sets as go items is a must for this momma!

Motherhood

Motherhood has the unique ability to expose our deepest weaknesses as well as highlight personal substance you never knew was there. In the trenches of the days of no sleep, spit up covered shirts and endless dirty diapers you discover the deepest part of who you are. One thing I have learned in the last almost 10 years of motherhood, is that knowing who I am is vital to my success. As Americans, I see great fear in understanding one’s own weaknesses. I know the opposite to be true. I see strength in your own full self discovery. We see women that look a certain way and are wearing certain things and we think that we have to imitate that to establish our identity. I see women everyday who are stretched to the brink, trying to do it all. As mothers, it’s important to relay to our children that weaknesses are a part of who we are, we are not defined by those rather we are defined by our strengths. When we truly know who we are, we can feel more comfortable making choices t...

Tween Room Inspiration

Our oldest just turned 10, I just can’t believe it. But ten is big and she is beginning to grow out of toys and little girl stuff. She currently shares a room with her 7 year old little sister. They sleep in sweet little twin beds and we hear them whispers and playing after bed time. It has been good for them to share a room. I think it’s a wonderful learning experience for children to share a room. I have much older half siblings, so I basically grew up as an only child. Learning to live in a shared space is such an important lesson. Respecting people areas, cleaning up after yourself... these are all great lessons. Things that will serve her well in college. This particular child is fiercely independent and thrives and recharges on solo time. As the baby of the family approaches needing to be out of the crib we know a change is on the horizon. Our house has enough bedrooms  for everyone to have their own room, but some are upstairs  near our Master bedroom and some downs...

Italian Cheese Ball

I blogged and did a IG live recently and made a cheeseball. You can see the blog post here. Cheeseballs are a fantastic item to serve at a gathering. They are easy, appetizing and unpretentious. You can make them any flavor to fit what you are looking for. This last weekend we were swimming at a friends house and I wanted to bring something for us to snack on. I made a Italian flavored cheeseball. Think of the flavors of an Italian sub, but in a cheeseball! So good. I like to mix my cheeseballs in an electro mixer... but that’s not necessary. It just needs to be well mixed. Ingredients: 2 finely chopped peperocinos 2 finely chopped cherry peppers 1 block of softened cream cheese 1/2 packet of Italian dressing (dry) 1/4 cup Parmesan Coating: 1-2 tablespoons of dried parsley 2-3 pieces of hard salami, chopped finely (blotted w/a paper towel to remove extra oil) 1/4 cup Parmesan Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least one hour before serving.
