Spring Must Haves

Spring shopping is a little different this year. No window shopping, no stopping in to try on and no long walks through target with a Starbucks in hand.

We are all spending lots of time at home. Unless you are a glutton for punishment, jeans are not happening. I found myself typing in things like ‘women’s loungewear’ and ‘athleisure clothes’ into my favorite online retailers search bar..  I have put together my favorites. Things that are comfy for all day teaching homeschool... but if you walk to the mailbox or take out the trash your neighbor won’t be suspicious whether you are in your jammies still.

Athletic clothes are a must have... we are taking lots of walks and bike rides. Side note, we live in the South where it is already experiencing days of sunshine and hot weather. So most of my choices are warm weather friendly.

Old Navy & Target are a couple of my favorite retailers for reasonably priced athletic gear. These blush 4’’ inseam athletic shorts are so cute (Old Navy) paired with the subtle tie dye split side shirt (Target) is perfect for a long bike ride on a hot Georgia afternoon!

I ordered this tie dye dress from Target before all this shelter in place stuff had started. I’m calling
this my gateway into tie dye. I love it. It’s a fun length and comfortable and airy ... it looks adorable.

These Pajamas right here are my favorite! I have two pairs! I first got these when I was breadtfeed My third baby. They were perfect for nursing. They are comfortable and classic. The material is soft and stretchy.

The last two springs I have gottten a new pair of Birkenstock’s. Many of you balk are the idea of over $100 for a pair of sandals... but really & truly they are worth it. I pretty much either wear athletic shoes or birks everyday. I wear mine with simple summer dresses or shorts, jeans or leggings. I don’t really need a new pair this spring, because my rose gold ones from last year are still in great shape. But if I buy some... I want to try this style!

Basically my go to wardrobe during this crazy time needs to be ‘do-it-all’ friendly. I need to be able to take a walk, cook dinner, work through math, clean the toilets and play frozen 2 with my three year old. I need wash well, fit well, snuggle well and be comfortable. The world is crazy and uncertain, I want to be a cozy spot for my kids to lean in to.

DIY Salon Worthy Manicure at Home

DIY salon manicure at home So, like many of you mamas I don’t always have time to sneak off to the nail salon to get a manicure. Not only that, but weekly trips to the salon are not always in the budget. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love going to the salon. But the logistics get tough, I have to find someone to watch the youngest of my kiddos. So, a $30 manicure turns into a $50 outing once I pay the babysitter. More often than not, I do my nails at home. Here is how I am able achieve a salon look quickly at home. I tend do my nails at night after the kids are all in bed, while watching TV.  Starting with clean dry nails, here is my process. First, I rub hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol on on my nails. This takes the excess oil off of my nails and allows the polish to adhere better. This is the first step to a longer-lasting manicure. Second, I use a basecoat. I love Orly Bonder. It’s a rubberized product that allows the color to stick to y...

Tween Room Inspiration

Our oldest just turned 10, I just can’t believe it. But ten is big and she is beginning to grow out of toys and little girl stuff. She currently shares a room with her 7 year old little sister. They sleep in sweet little twin beds and we hear them whispers and playing after bed time. It has been good for them to share a room. I think it’s a wonderful learning experience for children to share a room. I have much older half siblings, so I basically grew up as an only child. Learning to live in a shared space is such an important lesson. Respecting people areas, cleaning up after yourself... these are all great lessons. Things that will serve her well in college. This particular child is fiercely independent and thrives and recharges on solo time. As the baby of the family approaches needing to be out of the crib we know a change is on the horizon. Our house has enough bedrooms  for everyone to have their own room, but some are upstairs  near our Master bedroom and some downs...

Italian Cheese Ball

I blogged and did a IG live recently and made a cheeseball. You can see the blog post here. Cheeseballs are a fantastic item to serve at a gathering. They are easy, appetizing and unpretentious. You can make them any flavor to fit what you are looking for. This last weekend we were swimming at a friends house and I wanted to bring something for us to snack on. I made a Italian flavored cheeseball. Think of the flavors of an Italian sub, but in a cheeseball! So good. I like to mix my cheeseballs in an electro mixer... but that’s not necessary. It just needs to be well mixed. Ingredients: 2 finely chopped peperocinos 2 finely chopped cherry peppers 1 block of softened cream cheese 1/2 packet of Italian dressing (dry) 1/4 cup Parmesan Coating: 1-2 tablespoons of dried parsley 2-3 pieces of hard salami, chopped finely (blotted w/a paper towel to remove extra oil) 1/4 cup Parmesan Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least one hour before serving.
